Ette
Named in memory of my late Aunt Jeanette, Ette (eh-tt) is a brand built from love, legacy, and purpose. It’s more than just clothing — it’s a movement rooted in confidence, ethical artisanship, and the celebration of African heritage. These are the three core values that guide everything we do.

Confidence
At Ette, every garment is created with intention — designed not just to be worn, but to be felt. We believe that clothing should be more than fabric stitched together. It should carry confidence, serve as a source of strength, and be a reminder of who you are at your core. Our pieces are crafted to uplift — to extenuate your beauty, your story, and your presence. Whether you're embracing the highs or growing through the lows, Ette is here to remind you of the power you hold within.
We design for the bold. For those becoming. For those daring to step fully into the best version of themselves.
Because we know fashion isn’t just about what’s on the outside — it’s about how you feel when you wear it. It’s the quiet courage stitched into every hem. The celebration of heritage in every pattern. The strength and softness balanced in every silhouette.
“The most important thing to remember is that you can wear all the greatest clothes and all the greatest shoes, but you’ve got to have a good spirit on the inside. That’s what’s really going to make you look like you’re ready to rock the world.” Alicia Keys
“What really matters is not whether we have problems, but how we go through them. We must keep going on to make it through whatever we are facing.” Rosa Parks
At Ette, we’re here for the journey — the quiet wins, the big shifts, and everything in between.
African Heritage
Connecting with our heritage is powerful — it's a part of who we are, shaping our identity and grounding us in something greater.
My African ancestry is a deep and meaningful part of me, and at Ette, that connection comes to life through our designs. We work with authentic African fabrics — like Ankara, Kente, and Mudcloth — reimagined in modern silhouettes that speak to both tradition and contemporary style.
Ette is a celebration of Africa’s rich diversity, beauty, and culture — shared with the world. You don’t have to be of African descent to wear our pieces. Our clothing is for everyone who appreciates the artistry, story, and soul woven into every fabric.
At Ette, we believe in sharing culture with openness, respect, and love — one garment at a time.
Ethical Artisanship
I believe we all share a responsibility to care for this beautiful planet and treat one another with respect, dignity and integrity.
Every decision — from fabric choices to finish — reflects a commitment to sustainability, authenticity, and ethical artisanship. I work with deadstock fabrics sourced from local companies and purchase Ankara from family-run businesses, ensuring cultural integrity and meaningful community support. I strive to support local and family-owned businesses whenever possible.
Production is done either by myself or in collaboration with skilled local sewists in Vancouver and Victoria — always with fair wages and a respect for craftsmanship.
"You can positively affect and change a social circumstance with art, and it's vital that a change happens now." Mos Def
That’s the kind of change Ette stands for.
"I found it is the small everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keep the darkness at bay… small acts of kindness and love.” JRR Tolkien
