Ette

Named in memory of my late Aunt Jeanette, “Ette” is all about promoting confidence, ethical artisanship and celebrating African heritage. The designs seamlessly blend modern silhouettes and traditional fabrics, embodying an afrocentric style that enriches the fashion scene. Each piece serves as a canvas where innovation converges with heritage, empowering you to boldly represent your roots with confidence in every step.

  • Confidence

At Ette, clothes are created to boost one’s confidence. They are made to uplift. To extenuate one’s beauty. Garments are designed to channel ones courage and help you become the best version of yourself.

“The most important thing to remember is that you can wear all the greatest clothes and all the greatest shoes, but you’ve got to have a good spirit on the inside. That’s what’s really going to make you look like you’re ready to rock the world.”
    - Alicia Keys

    ·

“What really matters is not whether we have problems, but how we go through them. We must keep going on to make it through whatever we are facing.”

    - Rosa Parks

  • Ethical Artisanship

I believe that we all have an individual and collective responsibility to be good stewards of this beautiful planet earth. I want what I create to bring positive change in our world, so the choice I make with fabrics, production, designs and really every aspect of my brand is in line with that.

At Ette, I primarily use deadstock fabrics sourced from local companies as well as Ankara fabrics from family run businesses. Other fabrics are sourced from Canadian run companies. Production is done by myself in my home studio in Victoria as well as in a small production facility in Vancouver.

“I have found that it is the small everyday deed of ordinary folks that keep the darkness at bay. Small acts of kindness and love.”

    - J.R.R Tolkien, The Hobbit

  • African Heritage

Connecting with ones family heritage is important. It’s a part of who we are. It’s a piece of who we are.

I’ve found that learning more about my ancestry has increased my perspective, and helped me become a healthier, more aware individual. At Ette, my African heritage is expressed in many ways but primarily through designing garments with authentic African fabrics. Traditional fabrics in a modern silhouettes. Ette celebrates the rich diversity and beauty of Africa.
